The Garden.

Tank and Cardigan:  Old Navy
Skirt:  MNG Mango via JCPenny
Bracelet:  Nordstrom
Necklace:  Local (a company called Emerge.  Very cool company that empowers girls that come from abusive situations.  Find out more here.)
Shoes: Born (Old)

I love this sparkly tank from Old Navy, and since it is the day before New Year's Eve, I thought it was perfect.  It adds the perfect amount of pizazz without being overwhelming.

These pictures were taken in a corner of my backyard, although here, backyards are called gardens.  I find the term garden much more charming than backyard, so that is what I call it now.  There are many phrases and words that are a little bit different here.  My next favorite is take-away rather than to-go.  You know, when you go to a restaurant and order something to-go?  Here in Sri Lanka they call it take away; I like take away better.  The end.

Yellow wall.

Dress:  JCrew
Undershirt:  Shade Half tee
Belt: JCrew
Bag: Steve Madden via Nordstrom
Shoes:  Franco Sarto via Marshalls

We went for a walk today around town, and when we passed this wall, I wanted to take my picture in front of it.
On our walk we also found a building with the front missing; exposing a urinal.  It was pretty sweet, and I took a picture of the boys in front of it.  Instant classic.

There are two things in life I have ALWAYS loved.  The first is clothes.  The second is being in pictures.  This blog fulfills both of these loves.  What a great life.

Florals and contemplation.

Shirt: Neiman Marcus
Shorts:  JCrew
Necklace, Bauble Bar; Bracelets, Groopdealz.com
Shoes:  Old.  I think DSW.  Seychelles brand.

I am actually talking on the phone in the top picture, a very serious (obviously) conversation with my husband.

I paid way too much for this shirt.  It is a really cute shirt, but I think I could have found something I like just as much, for less.  The truth is, once you put something on, no one will know how much you paid for it.  Whether it was $1.00 or $100, no one will know (well, sometimes there are exceptions to this, but that is for another day); sometimes the extra money is worth it, and sometimes it is not.  Oh, and the tag says "Dry Clean Only".  I only realized that AFTER I washed it.  Don't worry, it's fine.

Also, when I opened this necklace, there was a personalized, handwritten message from BaubleBar.  I was so excited!  How many companies do that?  It makes me want to order more from them.

Christmas Eve.

Shirt:  Kohls
Skirt:  Shabby Apple
Shoes:  Born

It's Christmas Eve, and even though we are not going to a party, I wanted to wear my party skirt.  I absolutely love wearing this skirt.  I particularly love riding in a tuktuk with part of my skirt hanging out and blowing in the wind.  That probably sounds pretty strange, but I love it.
I also love that it is Christmas Eve.

My local wears.

This week I had the great opportunity to wear some local clothing.  The top picture is a dress that my friend gave to me.  She actually bought it in India, not here, but it is close.

Then another friend invited me to a wedding, and I took the opportunity to wear a saree.  It was so much fun.  There is so much that goes into wearing a saree-which I had no idea.  Buying a saree was one of the most difficult parts.  There are a lot of saree stores here, and each one of them has rows and rows of beautiful fabrics to choose from.  Unfortunately, they are usually not organized in anyway, so unless you know exactly what color/style you are looking for, it can be completely overwhelming.
Once you choose your saree you have to have find a taylor to have a blouse and underskirt made.  The good thing is that they are custom made, and since most saree blouses are made to expose the stomach, having it custom made was necessary for me since I like to cover my stomach.  This request had a few blank stares and protests, but I insisted, and it came out just fine.
Once the night of the event came, I had to have someone dress/wrap me because I had no idea how it all went together.
Once I was all dressed and ready, I absolutely loved it.  Wearing a saree feels elegant and is so much fun to wear.
I can't wait until next time.

Black and Blue.

Shirt: Dillards
Skirt: JCrew
Necklace, Earrings and bracelet:  Stella and Dot
Belt: Came with another skirt

One of the things about my husbands job, is that we move around every 2-3 years.  For the most part, I really enjoy it, however, it is hard to leave friends.  It is even harder to have friends leave.  Today, one of my good friends had a farewell lunch, and I decided black and navy were a good way to express my melancholy mood.

Hello.

Dress: Shabby Apple
Mustache Necklace: Funky Vintage Lovely
Belt: JCrew
Shoes: Local

I love this door.  We never use it, but I absolutely love it.

Sometimes when I want to add a little silly to my outfit, I will wear this mustache.  Also, the person I bought it from is one of my favorite people.  She is just as sweet in person as she is on her blog.

It begins.

Dress: Anthropologie
Cardigan: Gap
Purse:  Target
Shoes: Born

Today is the day that I decided to start this blog.  I have been thinking about it for awhile, but this is the day it begins.
I woke up this morning having no idea what I was going to wear.  I went through several outfits, and finally went with something simple.  Dress and a cardigan.  Simple.  Since it was so simple, I thought a nice Santa mask would make the entire ensemble complete.
